Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has announced extended metro services for the upcoming IPL cricket match at M A Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk on Tuesday, March 26. To facilitate smooth travel for commuters attending the match, CMRL will operate trains until 1 am on Wednesday, March 27.
Anticipating congestion and poor signals at the stadium, CMRL advises commuters to purchase metro tickets in advance to avoid difficulties in buying online tickets while within the stadium premises. To alleviate post-match rush at Govt Estate and MGR Central metro stations, commuters are encouraged to procure their tickets beforehand for return or round trips either online or at any metro station ticket counters.
In a bid to streamline the ticketing process and minimize waiting queues, CMRL will exclusively issue single-journey tickets priced at ₹40 from Estate station and ₹50 from Central station ticket counters. These tickets can be utilized for exiting at any station across the metro network.
