In the last 6months, about 52 pairs of EMUs have been cancelled!! Unbelievable isn`t it!!

Maintenance has been going in certain places in Chennai and this has led to frequent EMU cancellations and changes in the pattern of train services etc. As a result, the commuters in Chennai have been affected severely. Point is that the passengers want the Southern Railways or SR to inform them about the cancellations or changes in the train patterns etc. They want the SR to take up the maintenance work in the nights

The SR has been cancelling many trains in the last few months and this has made many passengers angry. For about 4 hours, SR has cancelled many EMU trains on Sunday in March month on the Chennai Beach- Tambaram- Chengalpet line. This has resulted in huge inconvenience for many passengers. It is learnt that in the past 6 months about 52 pairs of EMUs were cancelled especially in the Chennai- Tiruvallur, Tiruttani and Arakkonam. Despite taking the issue with the railways dept, there is still no respite for the commuters. This was mentioned by Mr. Jayapaul Raj, member, Divisional Rail users Consultative Committee or DRUCC.

According to residents from Pattabhiram in Chennai it was clear that the trend of cancelling trains and diverting them started during Covid19 period. He added that when SR cancels trains then it would become tough for many commuters to go to many places in Chennai. He concluded that especially in the western parts of Chennai, cancellation of trains would make the commuters to depend on taxis and it would be very costly.

Announcement of the cancellations or train pattern changes etc in the last moment has been creating many issues for the commuters. This was brought out by a frequent train user from Annanur.
