No more waiting for a long time at the railway level crossing between Guduvancheri and Singaperumalkoil!! Huge relief for the public!!
By the end of this year, the second road over bridge or ROB project along Tambaram- Trichy national highway would be completed. It is now brought out that this new ROB of Rs 138 crores would replace the railway level crossing between Guduvancheri and Singaperumalkoil.
Information collected is that this elliptical rotary bridge would have 4 arms connecting roads leading to Tambaram, Chengalpet, Mamallapuram and Sriperumbudur. It must be taken into account that the first two arms would land directly on NH45 and the third arm would allow the motorists to access the under construction Chennai Peripheral Road. Point to be noted is that the last arm would connect with the constructed ramp on the Oragadam side.
The advantage of ROB is that vehicles on NH 45 would be able to reach Oragadam and Sriperumbudur industrial areas without the need to wait for the railway gate to open. It was mentioned by a Singaperumalkoil resident Mr. G. Ganesan that in the evenings it would take 20 to 30 minute to cross the railway gate.
The surprising piece of information is that this ROB project was initiated in the year 2008 itself but faced many delays. In the beginning, NHAI did not give permission. Only after the year 2021, after receiving approvals and funding from the TN government, the progress of ROB started. There were also some delays due to court cases related to land acquisitions.
