A new sensational record set now by the prestigious Presidency College in Chennai?
It seems like the plus two completed and eligible students are showing more interest now towards the famous Presidency College in Chennai for their studies.
The news that has come out now is that this college has received more than 1.3lakh applications for the academic year 2024-25.This is the highest for any arts & sciences colleges across Tamil Nadu. This has caught the attention of many and is spoken in high esteem.
The total intake for UG courses in this college is 1140. The students now are showing more interest towards courses like BSc Chemistry, BA History and BA Economics etc. Courses like B Com and computer related ones are preferred by the students in Ethiraj College for Women and MCC.
The principal of Presidency College, Mr. R. Raman spoke about how last year the college received 120304 applications and how in this year out of 1.34 lakh applications more than 53000 were girls. He revealed that the number of applications from the girl students have increased by 10000 now.
It is worthy to note that the girls prefer courses like BSc chemistry and BA History etc. In a government college, a student could apply for 5 courses. The interest to study BSc Maths is more now than last year and the college has received 5098 applications for just 450 seats.
Good news is that Presidency College would be adding an auditorium, hostel for differently able students and canteen in this academic year. Yesterday, admission counselling for special category students started in this college.
