The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a weather advisory for Tamil Nadu, forecasting rainy conditions until June 22. Specifically for Chennai, tonight (June 16) will see light showers accompanied by thunder and lightning. Over the next 48 hours, the city will experience partly cloudy skies with potential thunderstorms and lightning in some areas.
Today, Chennai`s temperatures are expected to range between 37°C and 38°C for the maximum, and 27°C to 28°C for the minimum.
In Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, temperatures are anticipated to rise 2-3 degrees Celsius above normal over the next five days.
From June 16 to 20, coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, particularly around the Gulf of Mannar and nearby southern coastal regions, can expect cyclonic winds blowing at speeds of 35 to 45 km/h, occasionally gusting up to 55 km/h. Similar conditions are predicted for the southern and central Bay of Bengal on June 16, extending towards the Andhra Pradesh coast by June 17.
Cyclonic winds are also expected in the central Arabian Sea from June 16 to 18, spreading to the central and southeastern Arabian Sea by June 19. Fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into these areas due to rough weather conditions.
