After a scorching day, Chennai and its suburbs found relief with heavy rains from midnight to early Tuesday morning. Areas such as Royapettah, Ekkatuthangal, Ashok Nagar, Egmore, Central Railway Station, Nungambakkam, Valluvarkottam, and Meenambakkam experienced rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued a yellow alert for thunder and lightning in isolated areas across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal until June 21.
For the next 48 hours, Chennai`s skies are expected to be partly cloudy with potential thunderstorms and lightning in some areas. Rain is also forecasted in various parts of Tamil Nadu until June 22.
