Don`t get shocked if you are planning to go to places like Madurai, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli etc in TN from Chennai in omni buses this weekend!!

Get ready to shell out more money from your pockets as omni buses now are collecting massive amounts as bus fares from the passengers. With the suspension of other state registered buses in TN, omni bus fares have increased many times now for this weekend.

It is learnt that as many as 800 omni buses that have been plying in TN were suspended by the transport commissioner and the number of buses now has reduced to 1500 in TN.

From Rs 1000 to Rs 1200 per ticket in the omni buses from Chennai to Madurai, Coimbatore and Tirunelveli etc, the ticket fares have increased to Rs 2000.This has made many passengers upset and unhappy.  Now, the passengers have been demanding the TN govt to operate more omni buses from Chennai due to restrictions on the omnibuses operation.

Mr. A. Anbalagan, president, All Omni Bus Owners Association was of the view that the transport department has been trying to confiscate omnibuses that are parked at Koyambedu. He was unhappy that the officials at the transport commissioner office did not accept the applications for re-registration.

In Coimbatore, three omnibuses were seized by the transport dept officers as these buses had Nagaland registration. It is known that the TN govt has announced 17th June as the deadline for re-registration of the vehicles.
