Last week, the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) issued tenders to enhance the area beneath the Velachery flyover. This project will transform the space into a park and a bus stand, aiming to improve urban aesthetics and convenience.
Key Features:
Bus Stand:
Six bus bays, a waiting area, pedestrian walk path, and amenities including toilets for men, women, and persons with disabilities. The bus stand will be equipped with CCTV, a public address system, and LED lighting.
Park:
Features will include a children`s play area, open gym, walking tracks, artwork, and sculptures. The park will have LED illumination, a boundary wall, and extensive landscaping with a sprinkler system.
Art and Lighting:
Flyover pillars will be art-painted, and footpaths will be lit with LED lights and Post Top Lanterns (PTL).
Additionally, the CMDA plans to beautify flyovers at Retteri, Villivakkam, Padi, and Vadapalani with a budget of ₹11.2 crores, covering 3,086 meters. These enhancements aim to uplift the urban landscape and improve quality of life.
