Established in the year 1958, Aavin is Tamil Nadu state government cooperative. It is noteworthy that in 1958 Dairy Development dept came into existence. It regulated the milk production and played its role in the commercial distribution in Tamil Nadu. Point is that it took over the control of milk cooperatives. In the year 1981, it was replaced by Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers Federation Ltd.
It is known to us that Aavin procures milk and sells it to its customers daily. Not only milk, Aavin is also responsible for the production of butter, ice creams, yoghurt plus other products like ghee, milk shake, khoa, etc.
It is now brought out that Aavin has reduced the prices of non-perishable milk by Rs 2. The Aavin milk is sold in orange, green, blue, violet packets etc based on the fat content.
In addition, Aavin also sells milk that is kept in the open without refrigeration. It must be taken into account that during calamities like storms, rains etc this milk packet (kept without refrigeration) plays a huge role. Plus this milk packet helps in long distance travel too.
This milk packet has been sold for Rs 30 for 450ml and Rs 12 for 150ml till now is known. At present, Aavin has reduced the price by Rs 2 per milk packet. Now, a new price has been fixed by Aavin that is Rs 28 for 450 ml and Rs 10 for 150ml. The presence of excess milk stocks has made Aavin to take the decision of reducing the price now.
