Tamil Nadu`s government has launched four new add-on polytechnic courses this year under the `Naan Mudhalvan` scheme. Aimed at final semester diploma students, the courses include Building Information Systems, Industry 4.0, Internet of Things (IoT) and Applications, and Printed Circuit Board Design and Industrial Metaverse. Over 70,000 students across government, government-aided, and self-financing polytechnic colleges will benefit from these programs.
In collaboration with industry inputs and the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC), these courses aim to overhaul the polytechnic curriculum. According to a senior official from the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), the TNSDC will oversee implementation, ensuring these courses are mandatory for students starting this semester.
"This initiative will help identify and train student talent, enhancing their career prospects," emphasized the official, stressing the importance of effective program implementation by college principals. Faculty will receive training to ensure successful course delivery, with credits reflected on students` transcripts upon completion.
