In response to recent public safety concerns posed by stray dogs, the Chennai Municipal Corporation has initiated a comprehensive survey. The survey began on Wednesday with the assistance of volunteers across 33 teams trained the previous Monday on census methods for stray dogs.
Each team, comprising college students, volunteers, and corporation officers, was deployed across different areas: 8 teams in Rayapuram, 10 in Thiru.V.K.Nagar, 12 in Alandur, and 3 in Adyar. Teams commenced their surveys at 6 am, using two-wheelers to navigate the roads and gather data. Information collected includes details on vaccinated dogs, neutered dogs, puppies, adult dogs, and the gender of each dog encountered.
