Marina Beach based skating rink might have become inaccessible, but don`t lose hope Chennaites!!
The good news is that Mandaveli based Alphonsa ground would soon have a skating rink, thanks to the efforts made by GCC or Greater Chennai Corporation. The residents of Mandaveli are happy regarding this but they are unhappy about the overall maintenance of the ground.
It must be noted that the existing skating rink at Marina Beach has become inaccessible due to the ongoing metro works. In this scenario, GCC has taken a decision to build a skating rink in Alphonsa ground in Mandaveli in south Chennai.
Information gathered is that the new upcoming skating rink would be present on the south canal bank road, near the existing auditorium.
The upcoming skating rink would cater the residents in and around Mandaveli and this was as per MLA Mr. Dha. Velu. He added that the rink would be built at an estimated cost of Rs 48 lakhs.
As per a resident of Mandaveli, the Alphonsa ground has not been maintained well till now as there are alcohol bottles all over the place.
Another resident spoke about the need for CCTV cameras at the ground as trespassers have been creating issues. He added that a watchman must be appointed.
Mr. Dha. Velu concluded that the Alphonsa ground would have CCTV camera facilities plus watchman etc and it would be maintained well.
