Southern Railway has announced significant changes to train services due to the remodelling of Tambaram Yard for engineering and signalling upgrades in the Chennai Division. The changes, effective from July 23 to August 18, include full cancellations, diversions, and partial cancellations.
Full Cancellations
- Train No. 20691/20692 Tambaram - Nagercoil Antyodaya Superfast Express: Fully cancelled from July 22 to 31.
Diversions
- Train No. 22632 Bikaner – Madurai Superfast Weekly Express: Diverted via Perambur, Arakkonam, and Chengalpattu, skipping Chennai Egmore and Tambaram. Additional stoppage at Perambur.
- Train No. 22153 Chennai Egmore – Salem Superfast Express: Diverted via Chennai Beach, Arakkonam, Chengalpattu, and Villupuram.
- Train Nos. 22403, 22535, 20482, 11017, 22613: Diverted via Chengalpattu, Arakkonam, Perambur, and Gudur, skipping Chennai Egmore with additional stoppages at Perambur.
Short Terminations/Originations
- Train Nos. 12635, 12653, 15929, 12760, 12759, 20684, 20683, 12376, 12375, 12606, 22657, 22658, 16160, 16159, 22841, 22842, 15930, 15630, 15629: Various trains partially cancelled or originating/terminating at different stations including Chennai Egmore, Villupuram, Chennai Beach, and Tiruchchirappalli.
Due to the ongoing remodelling work, additional delays and regulations are expected for trains passing through Tambaram.
