The Tamil Nadu State government has disbursed Rs 1,000 each to over 1.48 lakh applicants under the Kalaignar Mahalir Urimai Thogai (KMUT) scheme, following successful appeals for reconsideration of their initial rejections. In July, the scheme extended financial support to approximately 1.15 crore families. Initially, 1.06 crore women were selected to receive a monthly honorarium of Rs 1,000 under KMUT, with an additional 7.35 lakh beneficiaries included from November onwards. As of July 15, the program has now expanded to include an extra 1.48 lakh approved applicants receiving the monthly honorarium.
This initiative, launched to support eligible women across Tamil Nadu, commenced monthly payments from September 15, 2023.
