The Tamil Nadu government has announced that all ration shops across the state will be closed on July 20. The State Cooperative, Food Supply, and Consumer Protection Department stated that ration shop employees would receive a holiday as compensation for working on a previous holiday for the government`s flagship program, Kalaignar Mahalir Urimai Thittam (KMUT). To make up for the two extra days worked earlier by employees, the government had already given them days off on June 15 and June 20.
