An important stage in the lives of human beings is the teenage stage or the age between 10 and 19. During teenage, both boys and girls face many issues physically as well mentally. It is true that teenagers have ortho based problems in them and that is due to their rapid growth and active lifestyles etc. In this scenario, parents must keep an eye on their teenage kids and help them for treatment. 

Various ortho based issues teen aged boys and girls could get are

Sports injuries:
During the teen age, both boys as well as girls take part in various sports activities. As a result, they would get issues like sprains, fractures etc. Some teenagers might even get serious issues like ligament tears or stress fractures etc.

Scoliosis:
When the spine present in the body curves side wards, then the condition is known as scoliosis. This condition would normally develop before puberty and would progress if not monitored well. It is possible to manage scoliosis by early detection and by bracing. In some severe cases, surgery is done.

Osgood-Schlatter disease:
The repetitive stress would lead to inflamed tendons around the knees. Truth is that this issue would normally occur in the teenagers due to growth spurt. This is Osgood Schlatter disease. Those teenagers who take part in activities like running, jumping etc would have this ortho issue in them. There would be pain and swelling just below their knee joints. For managing the symptoms, rest, ice etc are usually prescribed by the doctor.

ACL or Anterior Cruciate Ligament issue:
Teenage athletes have ACLs and would find it difficult. This issue normally would occur while playing sports like basketball, football etc. Mostly, surgical procedures are carried out on the teenagers and they would have to undergo extensive rehabilitation to get back strength etc.

Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis or JIA:
In kids and in teenagers, JIA or Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis is a very common issue. Pont is that they would have e joint inflammation leading to joint pain, stiffness, very tired feeling, blurry vision, loss of appetite etc.

Various preventive measures:
Proper education and proactive steps are necessary to prevent these ortho issues in the teenaged persons. The teenagers must be encouraged to take part in sports with proper training and warm up routines etc. Point is that the teenagers must be made aware of the importance of maintaining healthy weight etc to lower the stress on their joints. Finally, to monitor growth and development, regular check-ups with doctors must be promoted.
