Split U turn strategy for the very first time in Chennai - A New U turn that has been created on the busy GST Road!!

Traffic is ever present on the GST Road in Chennai and due to this both the vehicle users as well as the pedestrians are affected badly is well known to us. Now, to avoid this traffic congestion here, a new U turn has been created on the GST Road. For the first time ever, the traffic police have implemented a split U turn strategy and this has caught the attention of many now.
It is worth mentioning that previously there was just a single U turn that was present on the 1.2km stretch between Kathipara and Alandur court, located at the Alandur post office signal. Point is that it disrupted the free traffic flow on both sides. For vehicles travelling in the opposite direction, a new second U turn has been created a few hundred metres ahead.
Those vehicles that come from Kathipara going towards Defence Road could make a U turn and take left via Parangimalai Jothi Theatre Road. It is now said that the vehicles must reduce their speeds for the sake of this new arrangement to function effectively.
