State Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management KKSSR Ramachandran confirmed that land acquisition for railway projects in Tamil Nadu is progressing smoothly. Since May 2021, the state government has prioritized expediting land acquisition for long-delayed projects, approving 2,443 hectares of land. However, despite the government`s approval for 1,226 hectares, the Railway Department has not allocated funds for two years, halting work on excavation.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted that delays in land acquisition by Tamil Nadu are impacting the Chennai Beach-Chennai Egmore 4th Corridor Project and other rail initiatives. He noted that while over 2,000 acres are needed for these projects, only 879 acres have been acquired so far.
