The Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC) is set to introduce a packet system in 234 Ration shops across the state on a pilot basis. This initiative follows Food and Civil Supplies Minister R. Sakkarapani`s announcement in January last year. Initially launched in one ration shop in Salem, the system will now expand to one shop in each of the 234 Assembly constituencies.
Under this system, essential commodities such as rice, sugar, and pulses will be provided in pre-packed packets to address complaints of underweight distributions. The pilot program aims to ensure accurate weight and quality control. Based on feedback, the packet system may eventually extend to all 35,169 Ration shops in Tamil Nadu.
