Chief Minister MK Stalin inaugurated the renovated Anna Flyover, also known as Gemini Flyover, after its Rs 10.85 crore renovation for its golden jubilee on Friday. Originally commissioned by then Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi in 1973, the flyover was one of the first in India, and the longest at the time, at 500 meters.
Despite its official name after DMK founder CN Annadurai, it remains popularly known as Gemini Flyover due to the nearby Gemini Studio. The renovation included repairing cracks, repainting, and adding vibrant lights. A statue of Annadurai has also been erected beneath the flyover. The event was attended by Minister EV Velu, Chennai Mayor R. Priya, Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena, and Lok Sabha members Dayanidhi Maran and Kalanidhi Veeraswami.
