On Sunday at noon, a technical glitch caused a temporary suspension of direct metro train services along the Green Line between Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. MG Ramachandran Central and Chennai International Airport stations. The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) quickly addressed the issue, restoring normal service within 30 minutes.
The CMRL communicated the situation via its X handle, stating, "The technical glitch has been rectified. Metro Train services on the Blue Line and Green Line have resumed normal operations." They also expressed their apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Prior to the suspension, the CMRL had announced a slight delay of 2-5 minutes in metro services on both the Green and Blue Lines. Despite the disruption, metro trains continued to run as scheduled between Wimco Nagar Depot and Airport, and from Central to St. Thomas Mount during the affected period.
