Tirumathi Meena Subrahmanyan, President of PRAYAS TRUST, was conferred the prestigious Best Social Worker Award by the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. M.K. Stalin, during the Independence Day celebrations held today at Fort St. George, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The award recognizes her exceptional contributions to women`s welfare in the state.

We remain committed to empowering women and uplifting underprivileged communities."
Established in 1996, PRAYAS TRUST has grown from a small group of L&T employees to a pan-India organization with a committed focus on healthcare, education, women empowerment, and social upliftment. Through various initiatives, the Trust has empowered thousands of less privileged individuals under Mrs. Subrahmanyan`s leadership.
The Trust`s Medical Centre provides healthcare to over 60,000 people annually, while its dialysis unit offers treatment to approximately 400 patients every month. Tuition centres established by the Trust benefit 150 boys and girls monthly, tailoring units benefit 80 less privileged women each year, mobile toy vans provide learning opportunities & fun to some 3,600 students from Chennai`s Corporation Schools and mobile medical units covering 11 locations within the limits of Greater Chennai bring succour to the less privileged communities. Several of these initiatives are steered in partnership with the various government departments of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
In 2018, the Trust embarked on a comprehensive rural development initiative in the villages of Pandur, Irumbilicheri, and Edayathur in Tamil Nadu`s Chengalpattu district focused on economic growth, infrastructure development, and human capital building. Additionally, Mrs. Meena Subrahmanyan has been instrumental in promoting Indian art and artists through L&T`s CSR initiatives and PRAYAS TRUST.
Going forward, PRAYAS TRUST aims to strengthen women`s self-help groups, expand skill development programmes for women, including Aari work and beautician courses, and establish a fully equipped tuition centre.
