Doddabetta Peak in Ooty will be closed to tourists from today (Tuesday) until Thursday. This temporary closure is to facilitate the construction of a Fast-tag check post and perform essential maintenance on the Doddabetta road.
The Tamil Nadu Forest Department has enforced a ban on visitors during this time. To manage the influx of tourists, the department implemented a `Fast-tag` e-transaction system at the Doddabetta check post last October. Ooty, located in the Nilgiris district, is renowned for its pleasant climate and stunning natural beauty, making it a popular destination for many visitors.
