Yesterday, 26th August 2024, near the Villivakkam-Padi flyover, the construction of Asia`s largest colourful fish stall began. This fish stall would cost an amount of Rs 53.50 cr.
Many of us have got huge interest in a variety of activities like maintaining house plants, maintaining pets like cats, dogs, parrots and pigeons etc. Earlier, colourful fishes were maintained by those who were affluent or rich. These days, colourful fishes are being maintained in middle class families also. The children show huge interest in keeping these colourful fishes in their homes.
In the last 10 years, the fish industry has grown several times. These colourful fishes are available in huge quantities at week stalls. Not many know that the largest colourful fish market is present in Kolathur in Chennai. Not only for domestic business, but also exporting colourful fishes to foreign countries is being carried out from here.
In this scenario, yesterday, 26th August 2024, near the Villivakkam-Padi flyover, the construction of Asia`s largest colourful fish stall began. This fish stall would cost an amount of Rs 53.50 cr.
It must be noted that near the famous Ganga theatre in Kolathur two streets School Road Street and South Mada Street are mainly present for growing colourful fishes. In the beginning, the colourful fishes were taken to Moore Market near the Central railway station. From 1998 onwards, the colourful fishes were being sold from Kolathur itself. Many fish traders come to Kolathur in large numbers to give orders for colourful fishes and they take these fishes through trains or through buses.
