Great news for the old engineering students regarding clearing their arrears!!

This could be a dream come true for many old engineering students of the 2001-02 batch who haven`t completed their engineering course due to their arrears.

Truth is that there are some old engineering students from this above said batch who have not yet cleared their arrears. As a result of this, they have not yet obtained their engineering degrees.

The sensational news is that these 40 year plus engg students can clear their arrears and get their degrees.

Chennai based Anna university has now decided to students from 2001-02 batch to clear their arrear exams. It must be recollected that till 2001-02 the engineering exams were conducted by regional universities only. From the academic year 2002-03 onwards, all the engineering students were brought under Anna University.

It is noteworthy that the first and second semester exams for 2001-02 batch students were conducted by University of Madras or MU, Bharathidasan University, Bharathiar University, Periyar University, Madurai Kamaraj University or MKU and Manonmaniam Sundaranar University.

The notification from Anna University mentioned that this would be a final opportunity for the students who have arrears in their first and second semester exams belonging to 2001-02 batches.

Places where the special arrear exams would be conducted:

In select cities such as Chennai, Villupuram, Arani, Salem,Erode, Coimbatore, Trichy, Madurai, Tirunelveli and Nagercoil. The special arrear exams would be conducted. The students could either register for the Nov/Dec 2024 session or for the April/May 2025 session. To appear for each session, the student would have to pay Rs 5000 as special fee. For these arrear exams, the exam fee would be Rs 225 per paper.

Information gathered is that the old students who want to appear for arrear exams must submit their Aadhar cards, passport size photograph and copy of their hall tickets or mark sheets of the last exams they appeared for plus a demand draft.

It must be recalled that the university gave the old students many chances to clear their arrears. Point is that the 2001-02 engineering batch has been left out because the respective universities conducted arrears also. It is important to mention here that the engg students must clear their arrears within 3 years of completing their courses. If he or she could not complete arrears within 3 years then only on special occasions when the university permits, they would be able to appear for their arrears.
