Direct pathway to Masters degree programme at IIT Ropar - MOU signed now between IITM & IIT Ropar!!
Indian Institute of Technology Madras or IITM is one of the highly prestigious educational institutions in India.
The sensational news is that the students who are studying bachelor in science or BS in data science and applications at IITM would be able to complete degree credits through on-campus courses at IIT Ropar.
Yesterday, 28th August 2024, a MOU was signed between IITM and IIT Ropar and it grabbed the attention. The MOU would provide the students more opportunities like direct pathway to IIT Ropar`s MS programme without the need of GATE scores. It must be noted that GATE score is a crucial metric used for admissions to PG programmes in engineering colleges.
It is now revealed that the eligible students could spend up to a year at IIT Ropar, take up research projects and pursue internships etc under guidance of the faculty of IIT Ropar.
To enable in-person learning opportunities for the students in the final year of the programme, IITM has been closely working with other institutions across India. This was according to IITM director Mr. V. Kamakoti. He added that IIT Gandhinagar and Chennai Mathematical Institute have already opened their campus courses for the eligible students of BS (data science) programme of IITM. He concluded that there are plans to link with some more colleges etc.
In June 2020, IITM launched a BS degree programme in Data science and applications to provide training through online content and in-person assessments. It is amazing to mention that more than 30000 students are part of this programme.
