In the future, don`t be surprised if you come across a STEM park in Chennai!!
As per the plans of GCC, the first STEM Park would be set up at the Murasoli Maran Park located in Perambur in Chennai.
The objective behind setting up of STEM Park would be to make learning easier and fun based for the children and this could be achieved by mixing learning with leisure.
It was explained by the Chennai Mayor R.Priya that ward 74 would be the home for the upcoming STEM Park. She spoke about how the schools teach science through rote learning and how students must be engaged in the learning process. Mixing learning with play would make the students understand better. In the future, one school per day would be brought to the STEM Park.
Science zone:
It is learnt that the science zone at the park would be very interesting as it would explain different concepts through models. The students would be surprised to see rain water harvesting structures in the science zone. The working of this rain water harvesting structure would be brought out by means of a flow diagram.
Space zone:
There would be models of rockets and satellites like Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan etc present in the space zone in this STEM Park.
Robotic zone:
Here, robot cars and mini humanoids would be present and the students would be able to operate these. Calibrating robots and humanoids would be shown by the computer centre here.
These days, more students from the government and corporation schools etc enter higher educational institutions. Point is that the park would help the students grasp difficult concepts better and would encourage them to pursue higher education at IITs etc. In another 2 weeks, the STEM Park would be opened to the Chennai public.
