The Higher Education Department has allocated Rs 7 crore to enhance classroom facilities in state-owned colleges, as admissions in Science and Arts colleges are set to increase by 20% this year. This decision follows a recent announcement due to high demand from students with strong Class 12 board exam scores who were previously unable to secure spots.
A senior official noted that Rs 7.05 crore will be used for upgrading classrooms, including the purchase of new chairs, desks, and ceramic learning boards. A total of 48 government Arts and Science colleges will benefit from these improvements. Additionally, the government has sanctioned Rs 100 crore to expand infrastructure in over 30 colleges, with PWD-led work nearing completion. Hostel facilities are also being expanded to meet current student needs.
