The Tamil Nadu government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Google on Saturday to establish an AI lab in Chennai. The agreement, signed at Google`s headquarters in the US, was attended by Chief Minister MK Stalin. The AI lab will be a collaboration between Google and GuidanceTN.
During his visit, Stalin also discussed expanding Pixel-8 production and exploring other Google technologies in Tamil Nadu. He highlighted Tamil Nadu`s plans to create a skilled AI workforce through the Naan Mudhalvan program.
Stalin visited Apple and Microsoft, discussing investment opportunities and data center expansion. He expressed his ambition to transform Tamil Nadu into Asia`s manufacturing hub and invited Apple to invest further in the state.
Industries Minister TRB Rajaa shared the news on social media, dubbing the AI initiative "Chennai.ai."
