Who would like to get bitten by fish?

The devotees normally won`t even imagine in their dreams about getting bitten by fishes etc while bathing. This happened 3 days back in the sea near the famous Thiruchendur Murugan temple. The temple town of Thiruchendur is making sensational news for this reason now.

Now, due to the unpredictable weather, there has been blooming of jellyfishes along the coastlines of Tuticorin and Ramanathapuram districts. Many devotees come to have darshan of gods at the famous seaside temples are known to us. Now, due to several cases of jellyfish bites, the doctors have been stationed at the beach shore to treat those who are affected.

As per a fisherman, there are many types of jellyfish present in the deep sea. He hinted that though most of them were harmless, some jellyfishes would cause burns also.

It was brought out by Mr. R. Saravanan, scientist at CMFRI that jellyfishes normally bloom in the months of April and May. He explained that due to erratic weather patterns now the jellyfish bloom is prolonging even now. Mr. Saravanan threw light on how the nerve nets of jellyfishes would sense changes in the environment and coordinate responses. It is shocking to note that these jellyfishes would eat marine organisms from planktons mostly but would also eat human flesh sometimes. Truth is that all these jellyfishes could produce toxins and just 2% would be harmful to us.
