Chennai Sewage Pumping Station Closure: Residents Advised on Overflow Precautions!
The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) has announced that the Purasaiwakkam sewage pumping station will be non-operational from September 4, 6 pm, to September 5, 6 pm due to sewage pipeline connection work on Dr. Ambedkar Road.
Residents in four zones-Royapuram, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, Anna Nagar, and Teynampet—may experience sewage overflow and stagnation during this period. The areas likely affected include Langs Garden, Napier Park, Wall Tax Road, Ayanavaram, Ekangipuram, Perambur, Sembium, Chetpet, Shenoy Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Kilpauk, Sundaram Street (PH Road), and Osankulam.
The CMWSSB has deployed sewage suction machines to manage any overflow. Residents can contact the respective area engineers and assistant engineers for assistance:
