Many of us go to our native places for Deepavali to celebrate this festival with our families and friends etc. It is well known that Deepavali and Pongal are the 2 most important festivals in Tamil Nadu. With little more than just a month away for the Deepavali festival (31st October), the advanced bookings for the tickets in the TN govt buses have started and seats are filling up fast.
According to some officers belonging to SETC or state express transport corporation every year on the occasion of important festivals like pongal and deepavali special buses are operated. In the same manner even in 2023 special buses were operated. The officials have mentioned that about 5.66lakh people travelled in these buses that were operated from Chennai alone.
It must be noted that in the TN govt buses the procedure to book tickets has been changed so that booking could be done 2 months in advance. In this scenario, the advance bookings for the tickets in the TN buses have been going on now in a fast manner.
Deepavali in 2024 falls on 31st of October and for the previous 2 days of travel the bus seats have been filling up very fast now.
For the 29th October travel, in the entire TN, more than 9500 people have made reservations. In Chennai alone, more than 7200 people have made reservations.
For 30th October travel, more than 7900 seats have been booked in advance in entire TN and more than 5900 seats have been booked regarding Chennai alone. The reservation for seats in more than 130 buses has been completed now and the number is likely to increase in the coming days. The transport dept would operate special buses accordingly.
In the month of October, a consultation meeting would be held on the behalf of the transport minister and an announcement about special buses would be made.
Those persons who want to travel could book their seats in advance either through www.tnstc.in website or through TNSTC app. Booking centres at the bus terminus could also be used to book tickets.
