It has been raining on and off in Chennai and in many places belonging to Tamil Nadu. The weather has become pleasant now. The Regional Meteorological Centre or RMC in Chennai has mentioned in its press release that a new low pressure has formed in the midwest and in the adjoining parts of north West Bay of Bengal north AP and on south Odisha coastal areas. In the next 2 days, the low pressure is likely to move towards north and northwest.
At few places in TN today, light to moderate rains with lightning and thunder might occur at few places. From 7th September to 11th September, moderate rains might occur in a few places.
For the next 2 days, Chennai and its suburbs are likely to experience partly cloudy skies. In few parts belonging to Chennai, light rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur. It is learnt that Sincona belonging to the Coimbatore district has received 1 cm of rain in the last 24 hours that ended at 8:30 am yesterday.
The press release from RMC added that in places like Gulf of Mannar, coastal places belonging to southern TN and at places adjoining Kanniyakumari Sea cyclonic winds of 45kmph to 65kmph might be there. There might be cyclonic winds of 35kmph to 55kmph over the south west Bay of Bengal off the north TN coast. The fishermen have been asked not to venture into the sea in these places.
