Tamil Nadu is expected to face dry weather in the coming days due to changes in wind patterns over the sea. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) forecasts that temperatures will likely rise, creating humid and uncomfortable conditions in some parts of the state.
P. Senthamarai Kannan, Director of the Area Cyclone Centre at RMC, explained that light to moderate westerlies and south-westerlies are prevailing at lower tropospheric levels. Additionally, reduced moisture over the sea, due to a recent system in the Bay of Bengal, is expected to raise temperatures by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above the usual levels for the week. Areas such as Chennai, Tiruvallur, and Chengalpattu may see a marginal increase of 1 to 2 degrees Celsius.
Maximum temperatures in Tamil Nadu are anticipated to be slightly above normal, ranging from 34 to 38 degrees Celsius in northern coastal and adjoining interior districts.
Weather officials have advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea until September 15, as strong winds, reaching speeds of 45 to 55 kmph, are expected to affect the Gulf of Mannar, the south Tamil Nadu coast, and the adjacent Comorin area.
