The news is that Chennai Dr MGR Central railway station is the third highest grossing railway station across the country. Here, the revenue collected from the passengers hovers around Rs 1299 cr. This was brought out by the Railway Board or RB.
In the 2023-24 FY, the Chennai Central railway station has netted Rs 1299.31 cr. Of these, an amount of Rs 13173 cr was collected from the unreserved passengers.
It must be taken into account that the Chennai Central railway station has recorded a footfall of 3.059 cr passengers or the number of originating passengers. Howrah railway station in Kolkata generated Rs 1692.39 cr and it is the second highest revenue grosser. Information gathered is that the New Delhi railway station has topped the charts with Rs 3337.66 cr.
The Egmore railway station in Chennai under SR has generated an amount of Rs 600.28 cr followed by Tambaram railway station that generated Rs 246.77 cr. These railway stations in Chennai come under the NSG-1 category is known.
