The Tamil Nadu School Education Department has extended the quarterly holiday for students until October 6th, after initially planning to reopen schools on October 3rd. Following a request from the teachers` union, the holiday was prolonged, and schools will now reopen on October 7th.
Quarterly exams for students in classes 6 to 10 began on September 27th, with the holiday originally scheduled to end on October 3rd. The extension brings the break in line with previous years, providing a 9-day holiday, including weekends and the Gandhi Jayanti holiday.
Teachers are also required to evaluate answer sheets during the break and upload results to the EMIS system. The extension ensures sufficient time for this process while giving students a longer vacation.
