The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation is set to operate special buses over the upcoming weekend and during the school quarterly exam holidays, as announced by the Director of the Government Rapid Transport Corporation. With increased travel expected from Chennai and other areas, additional buses will supplement the daily schedule.
On September 27, 2024 (Friday), 395 buses will depart from the Chennai Kilambakkam bus terminus to destinations including Thiruvannamalai, Trichy, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode, and Tirupur. On September 28, 2024 (Saturday), 345 buses will follow the same routes.
Additionally, 70 special buses to Bengaluru will operate on both days, along with 200 buses planned for various destinations. Special services from Madhavaram will also include 20 buses on each day.
Passengers are advised to book their tickets in advance through www.tnstc.in or the TNSTC mobile app to avoid congestion. So far, 12,691 passengers have booked for Friday, 5,186 for Saturday, and 7,790 for Sunday, with numbers expected to rise. Sufficient officers will be stationed at all bus terminals to oversee operations.
