The Chennai Meteorological Department has announced a chance of moderate rain at several locations in Tamil Nadu until October 1.
In a press release, the department noted that variations in the speed of westerly winds impacting Tamil Nadu could lead to light to moderate rainfall over the next few days. Rain is expected today and tomorrow, with scattered showers continuing for four more days until October 1.
Chennai and its suburbs will experience partly cloudy skies today. Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is likely in various parts of the city.
In the 24 hours ending at 8:30 AM yesterday, Vadakuthu in Cuddalore district recorded the highest rainfall of 5 cm. Other areas reporting rainfall included Kaveripakkam in Ranipet district, Alagarai estate in Nilgiris district, and Madhuranthakam in Chengalpattu district, as well as Tambaram, Kunradthur in Kanchipuram district, and Tiruvallur district. Kolathur, Maduravayal, and Valasaravakkam in Chennai also saw rainfall of up to 3 cm, according to the Chennai Meteorological Department.
