The allotment orders for admission to a certificate geriatric care course have been distributed to the students in Tamil Nadu by the health minister Mr. M. Subramanian. Totally, in 36 TN medical colleges, there are 975 seats available for this course.
Point is that allotment orders for a 3 month certificate training course under the name of elderly care assistant have been given to the students. It is important to note that TN has the highest number of elderly persons in India. In TN, 13.7% of the population are above the age of 60 now. Shocking truth is that many elderly persons in TN have been abandoned totally by their own kids and they stay in old age homes etc.
The name list of the candidates (who have completed successful geriatric care training of 3 months) would be available with the colleges. It is now said that those patients who require helpers to take care of themselves or their parents etc could contact them. It is superb to mention that this certificate training would provide jobs for those with class 10 certificates. In addition, the elderly would also benefit.
