From 2023 onwards, steps have been taken to provide bus tickets in the TN govt buses by getting money from the passengers through UPI facility, credit cards, debit cards etc. An agreement was made with SBI to get electronic ticketing devices.
Currently, at Kumbakonam and in Villupuram transport corporations bus tickets are being issued to the passengers through electronic ticketing devices only. It is now mentioned that in another 3 months electronic ticketing devices would be available in all the transport corporations. As per the transport secretary Mr. Panindre Reddy, in Chennai buses, NCMC or national common mobility cards could be used to get bus tickets.
