Windergy India 2024: India’s Premier Wind Energy Trade Fair Begins at Chennai Trade Centre

Windergy India 2024, the nation`s leading wind energy trade fair and conference, officially opened today at the Chennai Trade Centre, marking the start of three days filled with forward-looking discussions, technological innovations, and collaboration opportunities. With over 300 exhibitors from more than 20 countries, the event positions India as a pivotal player in the global wind energy market.

Organised by the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers’ Association (IWTMA) and PDA Ventures Pvt. Ltd., and supported by the Ministry of Power, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), and NITI Aayog, Windergy India 2024 is recognised under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

The opening ceremony was graced by notable dignitaries, including Shri Sudeep Jain (IAS), Additional Secretary, MNRE, Government of India; Dr. Beela Venkatesan (IAS), Principal Secretary, Energy Department, Government of Tamil Nadu; and Shri Lalit Bohra (IRTS), Joint Secretary, MNRE, Government of India.

India, the fourth-largest country in wind energy installations, continues its path towards renewable energy leadership, with Tamil Nadu at the helm as a key wind turbine manufacturing hub. Windergy India 2024 serves as a crucial platform in advancing India`s clean energy transition, highlighting innovative solutions to address the climate crisis.

The event’s opening day saw engaging discussions, including the Tulsi R. Tanti Memorial Lecture on India’s journey to energy self-reliance. Panels explored themes such as renewable energy auctions, affordable financing for green energy post-COP28, and challenges of integrating 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030.

International pavilions from Denmark, Spain, and other countries showcased global collaborations, with the UK joining as a partner nation alongside exhibitors from Germany, France, the USA, China, and more.

Windergy India 2024 underlines India’s growing influence in the global wind energy market, as the country pursues its 2030 renewable energy goals and a sustainable, net-zero future.
