One disease that affects millions of people across the world but people are still unaware of it is thrombosis. Sounds strange right!!

Thrombosis is a serious issue due to the damages it can create in our body. Therefore, it is necessary that we must treat thrombosis without fail.

What is thrombosis?

When there is a blood clot formation within the blood vessel, then the process is termed as thrombosis. This is according to the medical terms. It must be noted that these clots might occur within the arterial or venous system and it could be fatal. The flow of blood in its usual passage would be blocked due to clot formation of the blood. The patient could get a heart attack or strokes or pulmonary embolism etc.

Causes and symptoms:

There are several reasons for thrombosis such as sedentary lifestyle, being obese, smoking, pregnancy etc. Symptoms of thrombosis are presence of swelling in the affected region in arms/legs etc, redness and skin discoloration of affected area, pain or tenderness in the affected area etc. The persons with pulmonary embolism would have issues in breathing and chest pain etc.

Types of thrombosis:

Arterial thrombosis:

When a blood clot forms in an artery, then this is called arterial thrombosis. It is known that an artery carries blood and oxygen from heart to other body parts. Arterial thrombosis can lead to heart attack and strokes etc in us.

Venous thrombosis:

When there is blood clot in the vein, then this is called venous thrombosis. It is known that the vein carries oxygenated blood to the heart. Venous thrombosis can cause DVT or deep vein thrombosis etc in us.

Various treatments available for thrombosis issue:

Consuming anticoagulants would prevent the formation of further clots and clots that are formed already would get dissolved. Next option is thrombolytics, drugs used to treat clots. Final option is surgical procedure.

Prevention of thrombosis:

 

Thrombosis can be avoided and blood flow would get better by regular exercising, By quitting smoking, by maintaining a healthy weight, by drinking fluids throughout the day,  It t is also necessary that we move around in between and not sit continuously for longer duration at one place.
