In the future, don`t get surprised if you come across anti drugs clubs and volunteer teams in every school, college and other educational institutions in Tamil Nadu!!

The Home Department belonging to TN would establish anti drug clubs and volunteer teams in the educational institutions across the state of TN. The aim of this first of its kind initiative would be to engage the students in the campaign against narcotics.

It must be noted that the activities of the anti drug clubs would be monitored and regulated by a district level committee headed by the collector on a quarterly and half yearly basis.

Various other important members of the committee are SP, CEO or chief educational officer, Regional Joint Director (Collegiate Education), District Nodal NSS Programme officer, Joint Director Health Dept and additional SP (EB-CID).

A committee composed of ADGP (EB-CID), commissioners of school and collegiate education, NCC deputy director and MMU has been established at the state level. It is learnt that the top 3 volunteering teams and schools, colleges and polytechnics that have done well would be selected for awards.

An amount of Rs 15000 as cash award would be given to the best institution and Rs 10000 and Rs 5000 as cash wards would be given to second and third best institutions. An amount of Rs 1 lakh as cash prize would be given to the best institute across the state.  Rs 75000 as second prize and Rs 50000 as third prize would also be given.

It is superb to note that these efforts are made to create awareness against the use of drugs among students and youths. The goal was to make TN drug free. This was as per an official release.
