Monsoon special medical camps that took place from 15th of October till 9th of November have been superb for the public in Tamil Nadu. Point is that more than 64729 persons benefited from these medical camps. Various cases that were treated successfully at these medical camps were cases of fever, cold, cough and diarrhoea etc.
At these medical camps, 8593 cases of fever, 61185 cases of cold and fever and 6286 cases of diarrhoea were diagnosed. It was brought out by some health experts belonging to the TN health dept that there were no major outbreaks and the patients were recovering in the outpatient care. For further medical care, certain patients were referred to primary health centres or PHC etc.
On Saturday, the TN health minister Mr. M. Subramanian inspected the health camps at Perumbakkam. He spoke about how the medical camps were being held annually to avoid monsoon related outbreaks. Under the Varumun Kappore Thittam, the state health dept would conduct as many as 1250 medical camps every year.
Various services that are provided to the public at these camps are general medicine, child care, cardiology, ENT, orthopaedics, dentistry, ophthalmology, oncology and geriatric care etc. In 2024 alone till now, as many as 631 special medical camps have taken place in TN under the above said scheme and nearly 6.5 lakhs of people were benefited. It must be recalled that in 2021-22 under this scheme 1260 medical camps took place. Atleast 1532 camps were held In 2022-23.
