On Sunday morning, 168 passengers on an Abu Dhabi-Bengaluru Air India Express flight were stranded after their plane was diverted to Chennai due to severe weather in Bengaluru. While three other flights were able to depart for Bengaluru after conditions improved, the Air India Express flight remained grounded as the pilot required mandatory rest. After a 10-hour wait, a standby pilot was arranged, and the flight finally departed around 5:30 pm with about 60 passengers. Nearly 100 others opted to make their own travel arrangements from Chennai to Bengaluru.
