At a time when India was searching for a genuine fast bowler who could create impact and win test matches on his own, Jasprit Bumrah arrived as a breath of fresh air!!
Since his debut in test cricket in 2018, Bumrah has been performing unbelievably with the ball and has stolen the hearts of cricket fans across the world.
In this ongoing Australian tour that is in the BGT or Border Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah has been outstanding. He has bowled quickly (speeds up to 145K also), cunningly and has taken many wickets of the opposition.
It must be noted that in the ongoing BGT, Bumrah has taken 30 wickets in just 4 tests till now and there is still one more test in Sydney. In the just concluded test at Melbourne that was watched by a humongous amount of cricket crazy fans, Bumrah made the red ball to talk and scalped 9 wickets in the match. It is shocking to mention that India lost the Melbourne test after fighting till the last day.
Now, a sensational piece of record Bumrah had created in the Melbourne test has caught the attention of many all over and is spoken in high esteem.
In the just concluded Melbourne test, Jasprit Bumrah took 200 wickets at an average below 20. This is the first time ever in cricket history, a bowler has achieved that combination.
It must be noted that many amazing fast bowlers like Malcolm Marshall, Joel Garner, Dennis Lillee, Richard Hadlee, Ian Botham, Kapil Dev, Allan Donald, Dale Steyn, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis plus legendary spinners like Muthiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne, Anil Kumble, Ravi Ashwin etc could not get to 200 wickets below the average of 20. Now, Bumrah has done that and that is a fabulous achievement. Jasprit Bumrah of India is really a once-in-a-generation fast bowler. Superb Bumrah!!
