No more waiting in the long queues for immigration clearance at the Chennai airport!!
There is some amazing news for both departing and arriving passengers at the Chennai airport. With the soon to be launched Fast Track Immigration - Trusted Traveller Programme or FTI-TTP at Chennai airport, the immigration clearance for the passengers here would become faster. This programme will be launched from this month.
Dedicated e-gates or automated border gates would be used to fast track the immigration procedure for the pre-verified and low risk Indian nationals and Overseas Citizen of India or OCI cardholders. By this, the passengers would be able to bypass regular immigration queues for a smooth and easy travel.
How does this method work?
Here, the registered passenger must scan their boarding pass at e-gates and their bio-authentication would be carried out. The e-gates would open automatically. In other words, the immigration clearance would be considered to have been granted.
Enrolment process:
It must be noted that the Indian citizens and OCI card holders must get registered in the portal https;//ftittp.mha.gov.in and provide their biometric details for verification at the designated international airports. These persons could also use the closest Foreigners Regional Registration Office. Once their registration gets completed successfully, then their details would get uploaded into the system. By this, smooth passage at e-gates at the international airports would be possible.
There are 4 e-gates present on each side of the international departure and arrival halls at the Chennai airport. It is now said that those passengers who have not registered in the FTI-TTP could register through QR codes present near the immigration counters. At the next counter, they could enter their biometrics etc.
Validity details etc:
Information is that the FTI-TTP registration would be valid for a period of 5 years maximum or until the validity of passport whichever comes first
