The parents of the school students studying in several private and matriculation schools in Tamil Nadu are now in a state of tension regarding APAAR or automated permanent academic account registry. It has been brought out that the parents have been forced by the schools to give their approval regarding APAAR for every student and this was according to the instructions from the Union govt. It is well known that TN has been resisting the implementation of NEP or national education policy.

ONE NATION ONE STUDENT ID:

It is noteworthy that APAAR ID is a part of One Nation One Student ID initiative by the Union Ministry of Education in line with the NEP. Point to be noted is that this ID is an unique 12 digit identification number given to each student that would store the academic records from elementary classes to collegiate level.

It is believed by some parents that this unique ID has got some issues regarding data safety. As a result, some parents have mentioned that they have refused to give their permission to create APAAR IDs for their kids with the help of Aadhaar card.

A notification has been sent by a Chennai based matriculation school at Keelkattalai in south Chennai. The notification has mentioned that the school has been in the process of creating APAAR ID for their students according to the government`s guidelines for opening a DigiLocker account. It added that the parents have been directed to provide Aadhaar numbers which would be used for the kids APAAR ID registration. The notification has made it clear that the APAAR ID will store the academic records of the students in a secured manner. By this, the students would have an easier access to the educational services.
