Tiruvottiyur & Kodambakkam to Get Multi-Level Parking Facilities
The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) is set to develop automated multi-level parking (MLP) projects in Tiruvottiyur and Kodambakkam to ease parking woes.
Tiruvottiyur: A ₹130 crore facility for 1,052 two-wheelers will be built next to the Municipality Dispensary Complex, also housing a commercial space.
Kodambakkam: Located near Kodambakkam Bridge, this 1,667 sq. m facility will accommodate 422 two-wheelers and 75 four-wheelers.
Both projects will feature CCTV surveillance, security personnel, digital fee collection, and real-time parking slot availability. Developed under the DBFOT model for 25 years, these projects aim to promote organized parking and traffic management.
Meanwhile, Chennai’s T. Nagar MLCP faces low usage, with street parking continuing despite available slots, raising concerns about pricing and accessibility.
