Rain Brings Temporary Relief to Chennai and Vellore
Chennai and Vellore saw brief respite from the intense summer heat with rainfall reported in several areas, according to weather blogger Pradeep John (Tamil Nadu Weatherman).
On Friday, a strong thunderstorm moved parallel to the Chennai coast, bringing showers to parts of the city. North Chennai areas like Kathivakkam and Ennore received significant rainfall, with Kathivakkam recording the highest at 61.2 mm till 6:30 AM.
Vellore witnessed a fierce thunderstorm late Thursday night, accompanied by strong winds and thunder, following a daytime temperature of 40.6°C. Thuthipet in Vellore recorded 52.4 mm of rainfall. Chennai’s Ariyalur received the least, at 14 mm.
However, the relief may be short-lived as temperatures are expected to rise again starting Saturday.
